Red Turtle Photography » Blog

I seriously love photography and want everyone with an interest in it to enjoy the process and get great photos. In that spirit, I’ve created several resources for parents who want to learn to take better photos. Take a look below at everything that’s offered – and check back often as more resources are added!

CameraBoss: *THE* workshop for taking charge of your camera {learn more}

It’s time YOU were calling the shots! Learn the ins and outs of your “grown up camera”, the technical details to make smart choices in any shooting situation, and tricks of the trade for capturing meaningful photos every time. Workshop includes instruction, hand outs to keep you on track, actual shooting time, and a private Facebook group where you can get input from other students and on-going support from me! You can snag a seat in one of the scheduled workshops, or earn a free seat by hosting a private workshop for your friends. Either way you go, you’re going to have wall-worthy photos practically overnight. #cameraboss #girlbossyourcamera

“Watch Me Edit” sessions

For CameraBoss students only, an opportunity to watch me edit in real time, using one of your photos or photos from a shoot of mine. Learn the basic skills of getting a “clean edit” no matter what software you use, and troubleshoot some common challenges in family documentary photography. You bring your questions, I show you the answers. Coming in Fall 2016.

1:1 Mentoring

When you’re really ready to push yourself, plan a 1/2 day or full day of mentoring with me, 1 on 1, where we’ll shoot together (your kids or mine, or models if we need them!) to troubleshoot your challenges, practice technique, and hone your ability to create the photograph you have in mind. Choose a home or outdoor location, and we can shoot at your place or mine. Want to rent a new lens and take it for a guided spin? Want to practice photographing little kids at play? 1/2 day sessions cover shooting + review of images. Full-day sessions cover shooting, review of images + editing. Coming Fall of 2016.
