Fall offers an especially beautiful time to do family photos, especially in nearby Takoma Park. Many of my families seek me out around this time to do portraits for their holiday cards, and they are often filled with a blending of posed and candid shots. Michelle and Rob, along with sons Hayden and Bennett, were such a laid-back and kind family, and they truly enjoy spending time together. Because of this, the lush foliage in the Sligo Creek area (in Takoma Park/Silver Spring) was the best backdrop to let their family be themselves. There were rocks to climb, logs to walk across, and a footbridge that spanned the creek. Here in our local area, we are surrounded by tons of locations just like this one, and I love filling up my autumn season with plenty of families and their littles.
Hayden and Bennett were great sports, and we even got a few brotherly hugs! Although we all want that “perfect holiday photo”, that seldom takes the whole time, and I often capture the photos that mom and dad treasure most, after that “perfect” one. There’s always time in my shoots for real play and fun, and those photos represent the joy and fun we experienced. Are you a parent who is worried their little one might not sit still, or smile perfectly? Please know, you will be right at home during one of my sessions…I think children can be beautiful even without that posed smile, and I enjoy letting them run wild and free…that’s what makes them joyful, and that’s why we get shots like these. Enjoy this precious family!
