April 2016-80

To join a family in their home as they welcome home their newborn child is the greatest privilege. Capturing those tender first days of life in beautiful photography speaks to our deepest beliefs about family – that the birth of a new child is momentous, that the bonding of our first days together is meaningful, that the story we’re creating has lasting value and the documentation of it is worthy of a place in our visual history.

While constantly working to improve my craft (the technical side of things) I also constantly listen to my own inner voice, the art side of my work, which is where I learn to see heartfelt emotion and expressions of connection between family members, where I learn to see personality in a such a way that it can be reflected back through the photograph I am creating. I believe every family has a story and every image I create should be a true picture of your story. Some parts of our stories are universal – mothering, fathering, the delight of a happy child, the connection in a touch or a gaze. And some parts of our stories are uniquely our own. The artist in me is happiest when I’ve found both the universal and the unique, and deliver images that light you up inside.

Colleen Keenan - Hi Katie – we are looking to have some photos taken of our newborn (he’s currently 10 days old) and the family. We also have a 2-yr old. We’d like to have these done in the next week if possible. We like your work and would love to work with you if you have the availability. We live in Shaw. Thanks.

Krystle L. Morgan - Hi My daughter was born this past Friday night, because of a few complications, she came earlier than expected and I missed the opportunity to do my maternity photo shoot. Do you have availability to schedule a newborn/family shoot? Please let me know.
